Are they the same as an F1 growth rate? I don’t know the different rates of growth for them in Florida. Will the seed look like the one you show above, or is that just the f2?

  • From what I understand, this tree has been in the pot all along and was not recently potted from a field grown specimen.
  • Premier has sargentii seedlings and 7gal vinifera but they don’t know how to ship.
  • Few variegated fronds …..
  • I have a couple of completely green ones in my yard and there isn’t a bit of variegation
  • Lol but really I’ve only heard amazing things from this palm and I absolutely love the looks from it.

Palm Tree Jim

Hybrids seem to have a higher rate of growth for some reason. The seed looks pretty elongated, so I would think it would have a lot of Vetchia characteristics. Maybe something I might try to track as time goes on.

  • Yeah I had one sprout a while back but had some irrigation issues to my potted plants in my absence and it ended up drying out and dying.
  • Typically I find the F1 does have the hybrid vigor, except when they are very variegated.
  • Purchased several years ago as a seedling from a breeder in Florida.
  • Look how elongated this viable F2 seed is, that I picked up yesterday.
  • Secondly, drought tolerance is typically referring to in ground established plants.
  • Pretty sure they keep their variegation, at this stage we can already see the difference between the variegated lot and the greenies.

I moved the pot to a shadier spot in my yard and applied copious water this morning, and went home at lunch and gave it another soaking. A plant like this that makes tons foxy gold casino of roots hates being in a pot made for Hawaii or FL. It’s a bad combination for the palm to deal with root trauma and to fight full scorching sun at the same time. 300+ palms, 90+ species in the ground Do you know if this palm was field grown, dug up, and then placed in its pot?
Regular ‘ol green specimens always look flawless. In all the years i have observed it, fronds on the variegated spec. The collection has a few standard green Foxies, and a Variegated specimen whose crown receives full sun. I’d suggest spending sometime at Kopsick Palmatium in St. Pete. So why does it seem the green is the better choice ?

gal Foxy Lady (wodyetia x Veitchia)

There are no light colored green leaves and zero variegation. That palm is 100% solid dark healthy green. David the light must be playing tricks in the photo, this palm has zero variegation. So my question would be if this palm is mostly green will it do well in full sun Full greens do not have any variegation. They can be solid green without any variegation.

Our Experience at FoxyGold Casino

Can you tell me if this baby foxy is a full green ? The green form tends to perform better in full all day sun than the variegated which burns more easily especially in hot dry sun. FULL DISCLOSURE…these are not photos of my palms, nor did I take these photos.

FoxyGold Casino FAQ

Actually, light variegation is not a bad thing. Premier has sargentii seedlings and 7gal vinifera but they don’t know how to ship. I am lousy at keeping seedlings alive let alone sargentii seedlings! I am good with the outcome either way, but if you really want to rid yourself of that ‘ugly’ plant,I am ready to adopt.

I would LOVE to own that ‘ugly’ palm. I bought a 7 gallon from Premier Growers about 8 months ago and it’s already outgrowing the 25 gallon pot I moved it into. I have 3-7g (one slight variegation)
Look how elongated this viable F2 seed is, that I picked up yesterday. Maybe a few other palmtalkers that I sold F2 to can pipe in. The over variegated ones seem to languish and slowly die or just grow very slow, probably due to lack of chlorophyll.
